Undecided? Really?

Posted on September 6, 2024September 6, 2024 by Elliott

As I watch presidential election coverage on the various networks, I keep hearing references to the candidates’ attempts to sway undecided voters. And I wonder, “how in the world could anyone be undecided at this point? What is going to change someone’s mind, now?” The candidates represent stark contrasts in almost every area. No matter…

A Convention About Nothing

Posted on August 26, 2024August 26, 2024 by Elliott

I’ve been reading reviews from both sides about the 2024 Democratic National Convention. The best analysis I’ve seen so far comes from Peter Savodnik of The Free Press. He observed that the content has been about how great Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are and how awful Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are, but little…

Rope-a-Dope Redux

Posted on August 15, 2024August 15, 2024 by Elliott

In 1974, Muhammad Ali faced-off against George Foreman in Zaire in what was one of the most anticipated heavyweight boxing contests of all time. Ali shocked everyone by taking a defensive stance in the corners seemingly allowing Foreman to pummel him in the early rounds. In reality, he was using the ropes to absorb some…

Is Kamala a DEI Candidate?

Posted on August 1, 2024August 1, 2024 by Elliott

One of the attacks Republicans are using against Kamala Harris is that she is a DEI candidate. What they mean by this is that other than meeting a preferred demographic, she is otherwise unqualified and would not be where she is today. Is this a fair criticism? I went from being a proponent of D&I…

An Assassin and a New Candidate

Posted on July 28, 2024July 28, 2024 by Elliott

Two significant events have occurred since my last entry. First, a kid with a high-powered rifle eluded the Secret Service and other law enforcement and came within a few inches of assassinating Donald Trump. Second, Joe Biden suddenly suspended his campaign and anointed Kamala Harris as his successor. Several interesting developments have arisen related to…

What do we do in November?

Posted on July 10, 2024July 10, 2024 by Elliott

Peter Zeihan recently released one of his daily videos entitled Delusional Biden and Demented Trump. He fairly accurately captured what many of us are concerned about – “this is the best we can do?” The electorate is divided into three groups (at least) – people like Vivek Ramaswamy and MAGA Republicans who are going to…

Trump’s Guilty Verdict

Posted on June 1, 2024June 1, 2024 by Elliott

As the entire world knows by now, Donald Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts this week. The internet is blowing up as both sides of the political divide are attempting to leverage this event into political advantage. More Spock attempts to look at things rationally rather than emotionally, but I’ll admit that one human…

Additional Thoughts on Climate Change

Posted on May 20, 2024May 20, 2024 by Elliott

I recently returned from a trip to the Netherlands. When traveling around that country, one can’t help but notice the wind turbines. They are everywhere! I don’t believe there was ever a time when I couldn’t see a cluster of them on the horizon. A quick Google search revealed that there are 2,144 turbines on…

The Threat of a new Dark Age

Posted on April 30, 2024April 30, 2024 by Elliott

In 409 AD, the Visigoth King Alaric began a siege that would lead to the sacking of Rome. It was the first time in 800 years that Rome had been occupied by a foreign army. Alaric didn’t stay long, choosing to move further south into Italy to continue sacking and pillaging. But another Germanic tribe,…

The Trump Bible Effect?

Posted on April 25, 2024April 26, 2024 by Elliott

In 1517 Martin Luther published his 95 Theses in Wittenberg, Germany, criticizing what he considered to be corrupt practices of the Roman Catholic Church. This event would cause ripple effects in Western Civilization that are still being felt today. From the middle of the 16th century through World War I, the European royal lineages were…

Welcome to More Spock

The basic theme of this blog site is to approach interesting and difficult topics using more logic (Spock) and less emotion (McCoy). We created this blog because we were tired of all the shouting both on television and internet.

We recommend that you read the early posts, “Why ‘More Spock'” and “More Spock’s Constructs” before jumping into the more recent posts.

Your comments are welcome, but we’d prefer that you offer them in the spirit of the website.  We really don’t need someone yelling at us or calling us names.
